Yates County Sheriff's Office records are maintained by a Records Clerk, Juanita Lohnes. Most records are processed and maintained by the Records Clerk electronically. The Records Division is responsible for recording, storing, retrieving, disposing and disseminating records. These include Motor Vehicle Accidents, Criminal or General Investigations, Photographs, Traffic Tickets, Arrests, Domestic Violence Reports, DWI’s, Sex Offender Registry and information, Pistol Permits, etc.
Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) Reports
No charge to anyone involved in the accident.
All others including insurance companies are charged $.25 per page.
If photographs were taken of an accident, a charge of $5.00 per 3 ½” x 5” print is to be paid before photographs are printed and released. Enlargements are available at additional cost.
You can obtain a copy of your MVA report by one of the following:
Stop in at the Public Safety Building, 227 Main Street, Penn Yan, NY during normal business hours
Access to criminal or general investigation reports/complaints maintained by the Yates County Sheriff’s Office will be in accordance with provisions of the Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) as set forth in Article 6 of the New York State Public Officers Law. A local criminal history check of convictions that are the result of an arrest made by the Yates County Sheriff or commitment by a Yates County Criminal Court. The charge is $.25 per sheet found.
